Cape Cod Vacation!

Three weeks and counting...until my one week of rest & relaxation...because as the world knows, we Americans love to work practically every week of the year! After all, we might miss something, lose something...might not be productive, competitive...make enough of the almighty $$ dollar! This is where I go looking for a cocktail at about five minutes past noon.
I am obviously in dire need of my Cape Cod vacation. We have rented a lovely, house in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, on the edge of a beautiful marsh, just five minutes from the quaint, old New England town center and more importantly, the beach. My husband, my three daughters, one of their girlfriends and I, are heading to the Cape this July to spend a glorious week of sun and fun. (I know what you're thinking, all that estrogen, lucky guy!)
The house is an 1849 Greek Revival Cape built by Captain "Scotto" Foster which was later purchased in 1912 by American Impressionist Painter, Lillian Meeser. She is the grandmother of the present owner and in the house still hang some of her paintings. Needless to say I can't wait to go. I don't know how America will carry on without me!

Robin & Heidi - we COULD turn this into a kind of feminist retreat - a la Glenn Close in "The World According To Garp".
Am I dating myself?

The marsh is dreamy! I can hear the song crickets churping and the frogs croaking followed by a whipperwill in the far away distance. ( A whipperwill may not be near that area, but hey it's a dream)

What a dreamy vacation! In answer to your question, Put-in-Bay island is one of Ohio's island on Lake Erie. One of our tourist attractions around here. Enjoy your vacation- We'll try to keep America running in your absence!

What a fantastic week you have planned! P and I rented a house in Cape Cod a couple of years ago for a week away with our friends. It was so relaxing and beautiful. I can't wait to see your pix!

Hi Marie Louise. You left a comment on my blog (www.heidiblog.com) -- thank you! So I came to check out yours -- and coincidentally, I just got back from camping on the Cape! We camped in Eastham -- though I usually stay in Wellfleet. I hadn't been there in awhile and I forgot how much I love the Cape. We biked a lot (on the rail trail and environs), but if you like to hike, my favorite hike on the Cape is part of the National Seashore. It is on the bay side, and it's the Great Island Trail. It's a long hike (for the Cape) but so worth it!

And then I noticed that you stayed in Coral Bay. My husband and I stayed high up above Coral Bay in a villa about a year and a half ago -- our honeymoon. We loved St. John! Anyway, those were fun coincidences. Enjoy your vacation! It looks like a fabulous place.

oh my gosh, what would I give to make only one vacation in New England! Just to see the beautiful picturesque little towns and the gorgeous nature! Just one time looking over the atlantic ocean from that side of the world... wish you a relaxed time (even if it´s only one week)... I can´t imagine that you only have such little free time! We have 30 days+12 days "overtime" and the most of my colleagues (thank god) don´t have the feeling to miss something during this time of the year.... greetings Mira!
