Coral Bay Inspiration!

Coral Bay, St. John U.S.V.I.
I had the good fortune last month to take a week and relax in St. John, United States Virgin Islands. I hadn't had any time off since last July, so believe me - it was a long overdue break!
We stayed in the sweetest cottage overlooking Coral Bay and spent our days swimming, hiking and sailing. The owners of the rental cottage, Mary & Jay are in semi retirement, having moved from Cape Cod several years ago. They were wonderful hosts and introduced us to many of their friends - most of them transplants from New England as well. On the bed in our cottage was the most beautiful quilt. Apparently Mary has been quilting for years and has incorporated a sewing room into her new island home. I think she has a real gift for color and all of her pieces are finished beautifully. She is just another inspiration for me on my quest to create my own Cottage Industry!

Sounds like a well earned break! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I probably know your Brisbane husband as I am a born and bred Brisbanite!
I know what you mean about climbing into the photos and just sitting there. That's what I imagine too. It's lovely to dream. That's why there is no reason for you not to attend next Friday nights drinks at my blog. All my new friends from Sweden were there. I've even had one write to me today to tell me what she imagined she got up to at my party. So please come next week.
Best Wishes, A-M, Brisbane, Australia

Stacey - I loved this purple cottage too. And I'm telling you...it was PURPLE. We could see it clear across the bay!

A-M,
Okay, I'll be there! I'll bring the crisps and dip and if I drink too much, the Swedish girls can give me a lift home!

That cottage is perfect. Looks beautiful there...I went to Guadeloupe last summer and we stayed in a colorful little cottage as well. Why can't homes be that colorful here?

Hi Marie-Louise - enjoyed reading through your blog - good luck with your quest - one step and then another, soon enough you will find your path . I was recently inspired by this statement: 'take theleap, the net will appear" -
On another subject entirely, you seem to like quilts and color - take a look at Sis Boom's blog entry of 4/29/08 : http://jenniferpaganelli.typepad.com/

I love Coral Bay - that's the side we stay on too when we go to St. John. If I remember right you had commented about my pre-Plaza post -I just posted about the trip. My 9yr old loved it.

I remember these photos... you emailed them to me for a painting... the two would make a great combined painting... I will have to think about that.
Anyway... I was wondering if you would email me privately... I wanted to ask you a question about your guestbook... thanks!
